Beeswax
why beeswax?
When beeswax is burned, negative ions are released. These negative ions neutralize positive ions (dust, dander, pollen, and other pollutants), thus cleansing the air. This makes beeswax the ultimate burn for anyone with asthma, allergies, sinuses, and other sensitivities.
Beeswax burns longer and cleaner than any other wax on the market.
According to researchers out of South Carolina State University, burning candles made out of paraffin, which comes from petroleum, releases harmful chemicals (such as alkans, alkenes, and toluene) that may lead to allergies, asthma, or even some types of cancer! Most conventional candles are made from paraffin.
While soy is a healthier alternative to paraffin, it still has a very dirty carbon footprint. Soy is one of the most heavily sprayed crops with chemical pesticides which ends up in our soil and water system. These same pesticides and fungicides being sprayed are killing off our pollinators in masses. Soy is also almost always genetically modified. Growing this crop also creates a monoculture, a lack of diversity in forage and habitat for all pollinators and fauna. The more soy we consume, the more our ecosystems will suffer.
